Guitar Hero

Well...William loves the guitar or as he likes to call it "itar". Will brought his guitar out a few nights ago and William went nuts! He started screaming "itar", "itar" and trying to take it away from his Dad. Will let him hold the guitar and "play" it for a few minutes. When Will went to put the guitar away William threw a major fit because he was not yet finished playing!
That night Daddy and William made a special trip to Toys r Us to get William a guitar. Lesson learned....never send your husband to get a toy (that he likes as much as his son, if not more) because he will spend way too much money! William now has his own guitar that makes a lot of noise. We can actually plug it into the stereo and make it even louder!!

House Update

Well today was a very busy day over at the new house (still not ours but getting closer). The inspector and builder were there this morning and our decorator was over there this afternoon.

There weren't too many surprises with the inspection...a few plumbing issues (not stuck toys, yet), a broken heater (who needs one in Texas...really!) and some other minor issues. This is a very old house (we were both born in the same year...which I will not mention) so these things were expected. Thankfully once everything is fixed the house will be in good shape and ready for William to destroy it!

Our builder is wonderful! He was so patient and listened intently to all of my ideas...and offered a lot of great suggestions. We are only doing cosmetic updates (no moving of walls) but it will make a HUGE difference in this old house.

Patty, our fabulous decorator, came over this evening and she loved the house. She also had a lot of great ideas...Will better watch out!!

Will and I are so excited and looking forward to making this house our home. I will post updates and pictures as the process moves along. It will be fun to watch the transformation.
Needs a LOT of love

Plumbing Problems...

Last Friday I was wondering why my toilet was not working...so I got out the plunger. William thought this was very cool and decided he needed to help me out...what a mess! Will tried to fix it when he got home but nothing happened...so I called the plumber. He called back early Monday morning and said he would come over that morning...great!!

The plumber could not un-stop the toilet either...even with all of his equipment....now I am a little concerned. He asked me if William could have put a toy in the toilet...of course I said that was not possible...he would NEVER do such a thing. I went on to tell him that I am ALWAYS with him when he is in my bathroom and there is just no way he put a toy in the toilet.

Well...$95 later my toilet is working and we are minus a very cool light up bath toy.
The most expensive bath toy...ever!

The Williams visit the Arboretum

This morning (finally up to date with my posts) while our husbands were shooting skeet, Amy and I braved the Arboretum with two toddlers....what were we thinking!

Amy and I walked a lap around the Arboretum before unleashing the little monsters. We knew that once they were loose getting them back in their strollers would not be fun.

Out for an innocent stroll???
Looking at the "urple" flowers
William Schroeder decided to sit in a wagon that belonged to a very nice family (they were happy to share it with him) and he didn't want to leave. Poor Amy had a time trying to get him out of that wagon! While they were sitting in the wagon William and I ventured down the way to the splash pool. William insisted on pushing his stroller and he didn't want me touching it...let me tell you that was fun! We finally met up with the Schroeders at the splash pool. The boys were immediately soaked but were having such a great time...it was so sweet to watch them play together.
Splashing each other....

Playing peek-a-boo

Finally we headed back to the front entrance...but this was a LONG journey. William HAD to push his stroller and if I so much as tried to help him he screamed at the top of his lungs. Meanwhile, Amy had her own battle up ahead....William had found a golf cart. Eventually both boys ended up the golf cart and didn't want to leave. After getting both boys (still soaking wet) in their strollers we headed home for naps!!

Fall at the Arboretum

On Saturday morning Will and I took William to the Arboretum to see the pumpkins (and the flowers) and to just get outside and enjoy the beautiful day! My parents were babysitting Tom and Ben and decided to join us.

We had a great time watching the boys run around and play. We tried to get some pictures but with three active boys that was kind of hard....here are a few!

Finally....a HOUSE

Yes...you are reading that correctly....we found a house!! After searching for forever (literally), Will and I found a house that we both like...yeah!! It is in a great neighborhood with a great elementary school just blocks away. William and I can walk to school!

I went to see the house last Thursday (the 18th...catching up on my postings) and Will went to check it out that afternoon. Before I arrived two people had seen the house and after Will left four more people went to see it. We were the first contract...they have four more behind us! We were very lucky!!!

Right now we are in the "option" period but we are hopeful that everything will go smoothly with the inspection on Tuesday. The house was built in 1972 and the decor reflects that era. The whole house needs work...I mean EVERYTHING...from the roof to the floors. It will be a big project but will be worthwhile in the end. We have a great builder to help us out!

Keep your fingers crossed that we don't find any major problems and can close on this house ASAP.

Hurricane Ike and a Motorcycle

Hurricanes and the Morgan family seem to be a running theme this month. This weekend (think September 11th...again way behind in posting our life events) Nena and Papa came for a visit. Hurricane Ike was due to hit Houston so they headed up to Big D to escape the storm.

As always, William had fun playing with Nena and Papa. One night after dinner we went to Toys r Us because Nena and Papa wanted to get William a riding toy. We came home with a bright green motorcycle. For the record, this will be William's ONLY motorcycle.

William LOVES his new bike. He thinks he is pretty cool riding around the house...naked no less...on his toy. It plays music which he MUST dance to every time he pushes the button. When you push the starter button it sounds like a real motorcycle. This is a toy that every little boy needs! Thank you Nena and Papa!!

I forgot to mention that William's first ride on his bike was naked (pictured below) and he wanted to make sure that everyone knew this was his bike so he tee-teed on it...yes he christened his bike! He went straight to the bath (which is where he was headed before the brief motorcycle ride) and I cleaned the bike with Clorox.

Fisher Price House Party

Today (think September 9th...I am a little behind in my posting) we spent the morning over at the Schroeder's house for a Fisher Price House Party. The idea behind the house party was to get kiddos of a certain age to "test" some of the newest toys on the market and see what they think.

Amy and William hosted a fun party....thank you for having us over!!

Friday...our last day

A sad day....our last day at the beach! Will, Frances, Tom and Ben left this morning to head back to Dallas....William lost his playmates. Since it was another beautiful day...we headed out as soon as they pulled out of the driveway.

We spent the morning chasing William up and down the beach and trying to keep him from floating out the sea. Will and William went to visit a life guard. He let him climb on his 4-wheeler and "drive" it...how cute! Will pushed William up and down the beach in the dump truck. My dad started this and William loved it. He reclined in the dump truck while Will or GB pushed him up and down the beach....who wouldn't love that!

That night we went to Louisian Lagniappe for dinner..another favorite. After stuffing ourselves with our last meal (in Destin) we headed home to pack.

Thursday...birthday dinner

Another fabulous day in Destin....a lot of sun and the temperature was perfect...not too hot! We played on the beach all morning..building sandcastles and digging giant holes and filling them with water. We also spent a lot of time chasing William in the water...he is a fish!! That night we went back to the wonderful restaurant with the private room...they were eager to let us have the room again! We celebrated my brother's birthday and my birthday that night....what a fun time with the family. After dinner we went back to the fountains...and everyone got wet! Poor Cathy was watching Ben and she was soaked! Will and William were soaked! It was so much fun watching the boys run and play in the water.

Wednesday...back to the beach

Another beautiful day in Destin!! We spent the morning at the beach playing the sand and wading in the surf. William has no fear of the waves....he had such a great time! He also loved pushing Tom's dump truck up and down the beach and waving to everyone....the mayor of Destin!

While the boys slept my dad and I went to the airport to pick up my very dear friend Cathy. Cath and I went to college together and she has been part of our family every since. She flew down to spend a few fun-filled days at the beach and meet William.

GB, SuSu and the boys

That night we all went to dinner at Poppy's...a family favorite. After dinner we went over to the playground so the boys could run around....then it was time for ice cream! There is a cute little ice cream shop right by the playground...so we all got dessert...except for William. He wanted to run around outside. He took two bites of ice cream and then fled the scene.

Another fun day in Florida!

Tuesday...A beautiful day

After a dreary, rainy day on Monday we awoke to sunshine on Tuesday! The waves were a little out of control at the beach so we all headed over to the pool. We had a great time splashing around and we all enjoyed the sunshine!
Showing off my belly!

After naps we headed out for an early dinner. Yes...we eat with the old folks now...at 5pm! Tonight we opted for good old fashioned hamburgers and shakes at Johnny Rockets. William and Ben LOVED the shakes...in fact I think that is all they ate for dinner...well that and french fries...healthy huh?!? After dinner we walked over to the playground to let the boys run off some energy. The we all headed home for bed!

Monday....Gustav is HERE

Gustav

Well Sunday night was a long night....Will woke me up about midnight to show me the water was about ten feet from the stairs that led up to our house! That was a little scary! Although it was nothing to worry about...our house is about 20 feet off the ground...it is still a little freaky!

After waking up my parents and watching the news we all went back to bed...except Will. He stayed up all night monitoring Gustav.

Monday morning the waves were huge! I have never seen anything like it. It rained off and on all day and we were under more than one tornado warning.

Needless to say we were housebound all day! We did our best to keep the boys busy and keep the adults from going crazy. We ran the hallway down stairs to burn off energy. Once everyone woke up from their naps the weather had cleared up and the sun was out....YEAH!!

We got dressed and headed out for an early dinner. We originally planned to go to Bayou Bill's for fried shrimp....but when we arrived the restaurant was gone.....as in leveled! Plan B....we went to a seafood restaurant that we passed a few miles back....this was actually a must better choice! We had our own private room....I think they took one look at our group and did not want us to scare the other diners away. The food was wonderful and the kids were great! After dinner we walked around the shopping center to burn off some energy.

The shopping center had a grassy area in the center and some fountains that the boys ran through. William of course had to stand over one of the fountains and it shot up and got him soaking wet...after we realized everything was ok we couldn't stop laughing. We all had a great time!

Sunday...Waiting for Gustav

Well with Gustav approaching the beach was not as calm as yesterday. We could not get in the water because it was too rough. William still had a great time playing in the sand and sitting in the surf with his Dad and letting the waves splash him. He and GB chased some birds but our little guy was disappointed when they flew off.
Relaxing with GB

Will and I took William swimming in the pool and then we headed back to the beach (the other pool according to William). Finally it was time for lunch and a nap....for everyone!

When we woke up Will, Frances, Tom and Ben arrived. William was so excited to see his cousins. After driving for two days they were ready to get out of the car! After unloading all of their gear we headed to the playground to run off some energy. That night we were glued to the television and awaiting the arrival of Gustav.

We Have Arrived

After two days of driving we made it to Florida!! My parents were troopers...spending two days in a car with a toddler takes a lot of patience! William did great! He did not nap either day but we kept him busy so it wasn't too bad. We played with stickers, read books, watched movies and ate. He loved putting stickers all over his arms and legs and on the back of GB's seat! Thankfully they were removable stickers!

As soon as the car was unloaded we changed into our bathing suits and hit the beach. The weather was beautiful! William immediately got in the water and splashed and played. He had so much fun! He loved running up and down the beach. We were all exhausted from chasing him!

Not a bad first day!
